Yoga

Yoga, with its roots in ancient India,  has evolved into a broad term that can mean a lot of different things to different people.  The word itself means to yolk, or union.  This union of mind, body, and breath in a physical practice is the movement your body craves and the peace your mind needs.  Class types can vary greatly in style and intensity and with the addition of props and modifications, everyone—all sizes, shapes, and ages— can enjoy the benefits of a yoga practice.

Your Life can Benefit from Yoga

It sometimes seems that life demands we become less physically active. We continue to accumulate more sedentary time at work, on our commute, while watching our favorite television shows, or while watching our kids play. At the same time, we are stressed mentally. We are constantly bombarded with information, telling us how we should look, how we should act, how we should feel, or what we should buy. The result is that we are left feeling like strangers in our own bodies. We don’t feel as though our body can physically do the things we want it to do, and we feel overwhelmed both mentally and emotionally.

Yoga can help! Through a regular movement practice, yoga can help us build strength, balance, and flexibility. Through concentrated effort, yoga can also help us learn greater body awareness, help us evaluate the competing thoughts in our minds, and help us find calm regardless of the situation. It’s not magic or mystical, and it doesn’t require us to become contortionists or to participate in any kind of religious acts. It’s simply an approach to moving, breathing, and of observing our bodies and minds in a way that, with regular practice, produces real, meaningful change. We hope you’ll join us, either in-person or online, and learn to find more Flow in all aspects of your life.
